Update

Wow…was just checking a few family blog’s and realized how long it’s been since I’ve done anything with my own.  I will have to make the time to update as it’s been a complete roller coaster of a year for our family.  Maybe that’s why this hasn’t been updated much.  Not sure if anyone is following this anyways…

Blizzard of 2009 - 2010

What an exciting winter we have already had and it’s only the first of January. It all started a couple days before Christmas and really has stopped yet. We have had two major blizzards the first from the deep snow fall and the second from the high winds. We had a couple inches of snow on the ground about a wee before Christmas and this is what we woke up to Christmas morning.

That’s what about 17 inches of snow looks like. We ended up with a grand total of 19 inches from the Christmas blizzard. Other than Brittney having to work we just stayed inside and watched it snow.

The second blizzard hit us the beginning of week. We only got around 6 inches of snow but the winds kicked in this time between 30-40 mph. Nice light fluffy snow and high winds equals zero visibility and caused the interstate to be completely closed for the second time in two weeks. And with this storm we got the wonderful warm temps of 28 BELOW zero. We haven’t been above zero since almost Christmas. They are promising a warm up this next week to the high teens. I know Dad, sick isn’t it when the high teens is a warm up.

The follow pictures where taken this morning. This is what 27+ inches of snow in two week looks like not to mention all the snow we are lucky to have blow in our yard from everyone else's.

And yes the cat is still trying to get outside, although now she gets out and wants to come back inside pretty quick. But she is still running out the door when it opens. I came home from work a week or so ago and there she was just sitting on the porch mad as ever. She almost won’t let me pick her up. She ran outside and either no one noticed or they wanted to try and teach her a lesson. I don’t think she has learned anything but she took it out on me when I picked her up. Almost left her there, stupid cat.

Side note: I heard on the radio the other day while trying to keep warm on the drive to work that if you take a cup of hot water and the temp is below -20 that you can take it outside, throw it in the air and it will turn to ice or snow before it hits the ground. Last night it was below -20 so I thought the kids would enjoy giving it a try. Needless to say I now have a nice slick spot on my driveway now because we must have done something wrong. When the BIG cup of HOT water hit the ground it was still very much liquid. I think Brittney said something along the lines of "So stupid" and when inside, she wasn't impressed.

Schools Back !!

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I posted anything on here.  Been a long busy summer with more than enough to keep me busy.  The kids are back in school, a few weeks earlier than last year.  “It’s a conspiracy !!!!  They are only allowed to miss 10 days of school a year NO exceptions and they starting sooner and getting out for summer break much later”.  At least that's what the kids tell me.  Me personally I don’t really care.  If they are in school there is less chance they will get in trouble doing something they know they shouldn’t be doing.  Let me change that, at least Sean isn’t doing something he shouldn’t be.  I’m not so sure about Brittney.  Sometimes I think she is just looking for a reason to get in trouble at school.  Speaking of Brittney, she got her first car a couple weeks ago.  She still only has her learners permit but something this next month she will be legal to drive along.  Heaven help us all!!! Michelle and I spent several days trying to find her the biggest piece of junk we could find for her first car and that was the problem.  0813092032 They were all such piece of junk that there was no way I was going to through good money away.  So I had to increase the value of the car just a little.  She ended up with ‘04 Sebring.  This car is so much nicer than I wanted to get her it’s not funny.  The car is MINE until she pays for half of it and she can’t drive unless she pays the insurance on it.  Which shouldn’t be to bad if she keeps her grades up, completes Drivers Ed, and some program that state farm offers for new drivers.  All three of these programs gives her a percentage off on the premium.  Sean’s comment on the whole car thing…”Well, I guess the Mustang is mine then.”  Such a funny kid….That’s mine.. ;)

More From Vacation

This was really good of me.  All morning long I'm carrying the camera with me shooting the kids enjoying Disneyland and when Michelle decides to go lay down at the hotel because of the heat for a little while I leave it in the room with her.  I did it on purpose so I could really have some fun with the kids going on all the high speed rides and not having to worry about it.  And we just happened on the Jedi thing starting, and Sean got picked.  And there’s good old me, photographer, with no camera.  Go figure.

These are some pictures that Mom had hidden on her cell phone that she sent me.

The last one isn’t Jedi training, it’s all of us on splash mountain.

Brittney Playing Around

Well this evening Brittney surprised me by asking to go shooting some new pictures.  Most of the time I lose out to cell phone and computer.  So we hit Tut Hill Park and this is what we shot.  She LOVED the mud.  Go figure.

Great Plain Balloon Race

Got the kids up early this morning and hit the balloon race at Kenny Anderson Park.  It was a first for me and turned out to be a lot of fun.  Early, but fun.

Brittney's Pick

This one Brittney thought was the funniest of them all. I wonder why that is.  If I remember correctly the conversation started with Brittney says something like, “Such a little girly man”, then it was a “Shut up you getto booty newb” from Sean followed by a “All right you guys get along” from dad.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep a straight face and get onto your children about being nice to each other when your 10 year son is calling your daughter a getto booty newb.  I’m sorry but that’s funny.  And I've found that trying to discipline with a big smile and laughing doesn’t really work that well.  You try and tell them it’s not right to call each other names and then they come back with “Ya, but you thought it was funny”.  They just miss the whole point all together.
